Welcome to Got PS? a podcast dedicated to all things psychological safety.

Why psychological safety? Because we've all been there, haven't we? You've been in a team where it was just so awkward and uncomfortable and you didn't want to say anything. And you've probably also been on teams that just felt like family and teams in between the two. What's the difference?

It's all about how much psychological safety each team has. And this podcast is our attempt to help you get from uncomfortable to family.

Deanna Stanley

Deanna has had a diverse career in software engineering, starting with developing protocols for the first internet telecommunications equipment to the present where she helps government organizations adopt Agile and DevSecOps processes. She has been the only female engineer in her company is is very happy to see the growth of women in the computer science industry. She considers herself a PowerPoint artist and evangelizes "fluffifying" your presentations. She got interested in psycholocal safety when she started wondering why one of her teams just worked and the other didn't.

Kara Burgan

It's been an interesting ride! Kara spent a decade working on Avionics and ESM systems at LM Federal Systems-Owego. Then kids came and she decided to take 15 year hiatus. During this time, she performed a lot of volunteer work with the PTA, Girl Scouts, and other organizations. Returning to work in July 2018, she has been employed with The MITRE Corporation for 4 years with a specialization in Agile/DevSecOps transformations. She got interested in psychological safety when she wondered why she didn't find her current team a good fit.
